The difference
Yesterday I went to the shop to check for the Canon G7. It looks like a large Lomo, same texture; decent material, and a flash feet. I guess that's why I like it even more.
My intention was simple: go check the cam in a shop and buy it online, because it is cheaper.
I went to shop F in center of town, and when I asked to see the cam and have the battery on to test it, the guy said: 'The battery is flat.'
And then 'You can come back next week when it is loaded.'
He was very specific about coming back 'during the week'. (Probably because a Saturday 'is too busy'?)
So today I went to shop M out of town. (I really wanted to see the cam and feel it before buying it online)
The battery was flat too.
But the guy ran around, checked the computer, found another cam and let me try it out for 20 minutes.
Everything I asked him, he knew, and he really helped me to get to know the camera better. And I was in instant love. (With the camera that is ;) )
The difference with the online buy was 20 euro. Not to mention the waiting time (online offering can take a while) and availability (here I was sure to take a camera home)
So I bought it.
Why? Because his knowledge and his service convinced me.

Where, online, would you have bought the camera?
Posted by Bart | June 2, 2007 7:24 PMHmm, makes me think about the quality of those batteries. :p Good you buy local though. Those people deserve a living too. We can't all be amazon.com's.
Posted by Lieven | June 2, 2007 7:36 PM@Bart: Online I would have bought it at pixmania-pro since you don't need to pre-pay VAT as an independent and it is cheaper than konijnenberg
Posted by ine | June 2, 2007 8:37 PM@Lieven: I wonder whether it is different to buy local or not, as local stores very often are part of a global company. The batteries.. Need ot buy a second one indeed.
I ordered one for my mom, yesterday. Next weekend I'll be able to play with it, can't wait :-)
