Chile
We have arrived in Chile, after a long but beautiful journey on high heights...
We are now in San Pedro de Atacama for those who want to track us ;)
In a little cosy but definitely beautiful hotel (pics will follow, internet is still not to be compared to Belgium)
The last three days were spent in unbearable low temp, so the nice temperature here is a welcome change...
Not for long though, since tonight we are leaving for Santiago, as one of us desperately wants to go snowboarding in the famous Andes (tips and tricks are welcome! Sarah?)
Have to go, want to enjoy the sswimming pool for a little longer...

Nurse
I almost forgot: I want to thank Cs mom for making my girlfriend a walking pharmacy.
As this vacation seems to make me a walking disease, we fit perfectly. (The only thing missing is a nurse uniform...;) )
I guess it is a bit due to the fact I left so unexpected, didnt rest, flew immediately on high heights, and didnt fully recuperate from jetlag, I got sick easily.
Turista passed (only one day jihaaa), height disease with high fever (dissapeared when getting on lower grounds), leaving only a sore throat, and a dripping nose.
Ready for those snowfilled Andes.
(And of course I am blessing myself having a girl that takes care of me...)

Arrived in Peru
We have arrived in Peru. The initial plan was to go different ways here, I would continue to Arequipa, C. would fly to Lima to pick up her mum who arrives today.
After a really weird border transfer, and ending up in strikes in town, we figured out busses are on strike, and not leaving for the next days. And leaving for Arequipo seems not so easy to do.
My flight in Lima is leaving on July 14th in the morning, strikes seems to go on for 2 more days in the South. (Tacna and Arequipa suffer most we were told)
That and the fact the last weeks have been great travelling together, I just booked a flight to Lima to accompany C.
Yep grandma, I don´t seem to manage having a holiday in a ´normal´ country... But no worries, I am home soon...

Lima
My first encounter with Lima wasn´t superb, some weeks ago... The city was grey, the surroundings not to promising. Actually I was glad to leave for Bolivia back then.(Could have had something to do with seeing someone back then)
Yesterday, after a long wait in the airport we all arrived in Lima, the city was still greay, but in a total different neighborhood, and the encounter was really pleasant this time: the city was in total anarchy with a large national strike by the teachers union. (Ok, I admit, I love strikes and anarchy, and action)
We met different nice police and army men (the city was filled with them) wanting us on the picture.(while we wanted them on the picture)
We had the Plaza del Armor for us only as it was guarded and actually only few people were allowed on it. Enjoying good food, walking town.
And having good company.
What else can one wish for actually?
Seems the strikes are going on in Peru (Weirdly, when I arrived there were strikes in Bolivia, and now upon arrival in Peru, there are strikes here... I start to wonder.)
They seems rather large (seeing the army they put in the streets today, it was quite important.)
Tomorrow we'll be leaving Lima for elsewhere in Peru, and as it seems only 3 hours away, I´ll be accompanying C. and mom for another day or two, before thinking of flighing back to Belgium...
Darn, vacation almost ended...

We are derranged
We are the perfume of corridors
Unfamiliarised with isolated activity
Traitors of privacy.
We are Utopian craftsmen
Scope heeled diplomats, pretty beggars
Not the product of poverty
We don't take from anyone.
We are pillared by mild sadness and polymorphic history
Eternally skeptical,
But We Believe.
We are immortal volunteers
Living in the sensation of being everything
And the certitude of being nothing.
We are just an outline.
We disband prompted paths of movement
Extend our bodies,
Become abysmal dancers.
We are illiterate of perfection, following the curves of belief.
Interested only in the gestures of bending.
Scaffold-ed postures,
obscene geometry.
Frozen irony.
We are derranged.
(Finally the full version... Tx anonymous for adding this)

Back
I landed safe and sound this morning. Will spare the details on how Peru is paralyzed by strikes and how 'easy' it was to get to Lima.
But I made it.
Busy with pics now. So soon more to see here.

Home, sweet home?
Couldn't sleep last night.
And then suddenly I found myself awake at 1pm today... Apparently I was more tired than I thought...
And then I recalled the list of things I have to do.
Being independent has the advantage of taking holidays whenever you want (free as a bird) but it ain't sunshine all the time...
Before July 20th, I have to make sure my VAT gets submitted.
So today was a boring day, filling in all stuff...
Some mails needed urgent attention, due to postponing them while abroad (I did check stuff regularly when away)(Another disadvantage of being independent: work never stops..., while C. was busy with our trip and organization, I was busy solving some work-related work, cursing the computer for being slow.)
Slowly slowly I get to the real work, some new websites, and more photography.
Need to work away that jet-lag urgently ;)

Fingerprinting and the States.
When flying to Peru, a stop-over in Atlanta was foreseen.
Delta has one of its main connection points over there.
As it was only a stop-over, I thought I wouldn't actually 'enter' the States and thus the whole Homeland Security thing would be skipped.
I was wrong. Somehow, I needed to register to the States anyway, and although I have an electronic passport, I needed to register with fingerprints (everyone has to)
It felt like a shock when they asked me to fingerprint. And of-course everyone is extremely gentle (except for the rude officer pointing me to the right lane) to make this procedure as convenient as possible.
But I cannot feel but strange when they want my fingerprints.
Knowing that I am part of this huge database of fingerprints, allowing the States to identify everyone.
The thing is, when returning to Belgium, I read USA Today and to my great surprise one of the headlines was 'U.S. is building database on Iraqis'

Wind Power
Pioneering wind-power engineers are looking to take wind turbines to new heights:15,000-30,000 feet in the air!
Harvesting just 1% of the energy from jet-stream winds could produce enough power for everybody on the planet!
Sky WindPower and Magenn Power are just two of the companies in the race to develop flying generators for high-altitude winds.

Bicycle
Ok, I am definitely snobbish...
My bicycle got stolen last month, I checked with my accountant, and I can buy a new one on my company because I do use it for work.
So since sales are around, I started checking..
The best buy option is a Trek, life time guaranteed bicycle for 365 euro (VAT included)
Or there is the Sirrus Women, for 499 (VAT included)
My mind says to opt for the Trek, as it is only a bicycle, it is more than enough for what I need, and bicycles can get stolen easily. And it is only a bicycle, you know.
My heart on the other hand... My heart loves the divine beauty of the latter: the lines, the shape, the details. Especially the details.
What would you do?

THis year, Gentse Feesten seems a bit 'out of place' to me. Maybe it is the jetlag...

Tellin' you Peru's having hot times
You all thought 'Ine's bluffing up her story a bit' when writing about the current strikes.
But I wasn't!
BBC finally picks up the story, and meanwhile Peruvian Protesters Clash with Police: One Dead, 17 Hurt
(I am actually not so thrilled by that fact, and worried sometimes as C and mom almost got stuck in Nasca because of strikes.)
The possible next days scenario?: As it seems not only the teachers (who started national strikes) are striking but also several cities, and other groups (like drivers, taxis, ...) this might lead to a demand for a new government. The opposition (communists) are using the opportunity to put more oil on the fire, and won't stop.
I am not a political analyst at all, but it certainly seems as if the strikes aren't over yet, and the longer it takes the less 'peaceful' the strikes might become.
(It was already a strange observation to be told that the 'demonstrations where peaceful' but yet, all windows where covered, and all shops closed.)
(Not to worry you, but just stay out of the heat of fire, my love.)

Service
C. and I talked about it on our trip: 'Service'.
We're both very convinced that in the near future cheap prices won't do the trick.
The more and longer super advertisements with super deals get less and less sympathy.
I already mentioned that I bought a more expensive camera in MediaMarket, because of the knowledge and helpfulness of the sales person.
Similar story for my motorcycle: I drive 45min drive to Sint Pieters Kapelle, because the service is good, and my bike spins when out of check up maintenance.
On our trip, C. and I got very often confronted with 'the contest of the cheapest tour', where we were offered cheap tours, eg. for our tour in de Salar de Uyuni.
I really didn't care to pay more than 100$, in return for service and better beds.
And if it wasn't for our lack of time, I am sure both of us would have made sure we got a better organized tour (the food and service was splendid, the hostel on the other hand was very basic.)
Same thing with the bicycle story. The 2 bicycles mentioned are both seen in 2 decent shops in Ghent. Reason: service in short distance.
Both Plum and MovingStore are very (if not very very) decent stores with a known after-sales-service.
Hendrik of MovingStore commented on my post.
On the other hand, today I went to a professional photo-shop to buy a reflection-screen.
Because on the internet, package and delivery costs were rather high (a 35 euro screen with 15 euro delivery...)
At the shop, the screen still costed me 60 euro.
Kind of silly. If it wasn't for the fact that I was there and I was kind of lazy, I would have preferred to buy it on the internet for that effort. You don't have to overkill your service with too high prices that is.
An interesting search I guess: finding the right equity between service and cheap prices.
A search I have to do myself in my own company: being competitive.
Until now, I really figured out that offering service is really a plus to your customers.

Tu risa
Quítame el pan, si quieres,
quítame el aire, pero
no me quites tu risa.
No me quites la rosa,
la lanza que desgranas,
el agua que de pronto
estalla en tu alegría,
la repentina ola
de plata que te nace.
Mi lucha es dura y vuelvo
con los ojos cansados
a veces de haber visto
la tierra que no cambia,
pero al entrar tu risa
sube al cielo buscándome
y abre para mí todas
las puertas de la vida.
Amor mío, en la hora
más oscura desgrana
tu risa, y si de pronto
ves que mi sangre mancha
las piedras de la calle,
ríe, por que tu risa
será para mis manos
como una espada fresca.
Junto al mar en otoño,
tu risa debe alzar
su cascada de espuma,
y en primavera, amor,
quiero tu risa como
la flor que yo esperaba,
la flor azul, la rosa
de mi patria sonora.
Ríete de la noche,
del día, de la luna,
ríete de las calles
torcidas de la isla,
ríete de este torpe
muchacho que te quiere,
pero cuando yo abro
los ojos y los cierro,
cuando mis pasos van,
cuando vuelven mis pasos,
niégame el pan, el aire,
la luz, la primavera,
pero tu risa nunca
por que me moriría.

PictoBrowser Plug-in for Flickr
People already noticed, since the beginning of my re-styled sites, I have been using the fabulous PictoBrowser.
Not so known back then, yet today being hyped...
I actually based a part of my design on its features. It is neat, fast, and beautifully styled, thus integration is seamlessly perfect.
PictoBrowser is an indispensable freeware web application written by New York interactive designers Diego Bauducco and Carlos Gomez. It allows users to browse and display images from Flickr on any web page in a stylish, crisp flash-based interface. The plug-in enhances the functionality of Web 2.0 media sites like Flickr by providing a simple means to display photo sets on their own blog or homepage. To get started just click on the "Info" button on the bottom right corner of any Pictobrowser.
So yes indeed you can run it yourself. Push the info button, fill in your Flickr name, and receive some code.
The good news? It's free!
The better news? The future will bring new updates of PictoBrowser and a super cool new web application that relates to PictoBrowser (on which they don't reveal a thing yet...).

Watching the stars
I already posted this picture before.
It wasn't stolen from the web, I took it myself in San Pedro de Atacama in Chile.
When C and I heard about Alain, the Astronomer, we looked at each other and decided 'Yep, definitely'
It wasn't cheap at 25 euro each, but we got a 2.5 hour intro to the sky, and it was amazing.
I don't know why, but I first expected to be inside. I soon realized when driving to Alain's house in the desert, and observing the sky that we would stand outside, and that I f* could see the Milky Way without a telescope.
It was freaking cold, but wonderful. Just staring in the sky and wonder about these millions of stars, and millions of years.
And then Alain started to talk, and to point to the stars, show us Saturn, and see the rising of the moon.
A must do when you are around...

Moo MiniStickers
MOO launches their new MiniStickers concept today and it's another awesome customizable stationary accessory. Like their other items, you can upload pictures from a Flickr, Bebo or Habbo account (or directly through their site) but this time they end up as high-quality, beautifully printed, scratch-proof stickers. The stickers are sized as 22mm squares but they pack a punch with 90 different stickers, on fifteen individual, tear-out sheets in a brightly packaged stickerbook in a color of your choice. At only $10 these will come in handy when you want to "stick" it to the man.
COOL!

Bridge
Bridge was London artist Michael Cross' installation for the 2006 London Design Festival, allowing any member of the flock to walk on water inside a former church. Cross achieved the effect by half-filling the century-old church with water and installing steps that seemed to magically appear as visitors walked across the water. Purely mechanical, the weight of a person activates each step, which rises just above the surface of the water as they walk forward. There are some 30 steps in all, ending in the middle of the church's isolation that may be peaceful for some and terrifying for others.

Downtown
In my search for a cool bicycle, I came across this one.
Though I am not so much in favor of the small bikes, this one seems rather unusual and nice.
I definitely like the fact that the steering wheel is your lock.
And the bag for groceries, which seems extremely useful.
On top of it: the design isn't bad, isn't it? :)

New meme: my city your city.
When going through town last night, in search for a quick grab of food, I noticed the thing was closed. So I kept on walking for other spots.
And whilst doing this, I enjoyed the city I live in.
And I know we have bunch of people over here who do the same.
So why not share our city, in a blogpost? (As it is July 21, national day, it is never bad to be a little chauvinistic)
1. My favorite 'grab-a-bite': De Pallieter with the greatest shoarma's. Expensive, yet unbeatable. (At Sint Jacobs)
2. My favorite shop in town: mmm, hard one, as I definitely have a closet full of H&M, Zara, and WE, so no special clothing stores, in mind.
But that would make it 'De Poort' (Kortrijksepoortstraat), a comics store with the best music ever, so good you keep for hours in the store, looking for the latest, and not so latest, comics.
3. My favorite restaurant: another hard one. mmm, really hard one, I am staring for a minute now. I really ate well in 'Faim de Toi' in Belfortstraat.
4. My favorite 'take my friends when in town': Graslei ( classical one, but still does the trick)
5. Other 5 things to mention: Designmuseum, library, Juices + helathy burgers at juicebar near Cream (Hoogpoort), Hinkelspel for good cheese, and 'Monsters with attitude', a babyshop, as ALL my friends seem to get babies these days (so yours probably too ;) )
So tell me something about your city. (And pass on the meme if you feel like it).
My 5 persons:
-Peter F, for Brussels
-Clo, for Mechelen (or Antwerp if she prefers)
-Kerygma, for Ghent (ahja)
-Pietel, for Antwerp (or Leuven)
-John, for Ghent (with his NotSoSo, he's probably having a bunch of tips ;) )
And hmm, I am pretty interested in C's views too ;)
Extra: If posible: tag your post mycityyourcity +the name of your city (see below) for technorati so everyone can track it.

Buy an island
Sick and tired of your own country?
Why not buy your own island?
Isola Santo Stefano is located off the coast of Italy, Latium Region (Latina County) approx. 93 miles west of Naples, in the Gulf of Gaeta, Pontine Archipelo Islands (see map). The coast of Gaeta's Gulf, the 'Ulysses' Coast', has fine sandy beaches, with the Aurunci Mountains overlooking the sea at a height of 1,500 meters. This makes Ulysses' Coast unique in the world.
The beauty of this place and mild climate all year round have favoured the human attendance ever since prehistoric times. There are settlements in Formia, later Roman colony, in Pirae, with the Monte di Scauri rising behind, of ancient Minturnae, but more importantly are the remains of the great Roman villas.
The Pontine Archipelo consists of 2 groups of islands which are approx. 22 sea miles apart. The northwest group belongs to the Island of Ponza (its own district) and the Island of Palmarola, Gavi and Zannone. The southeast group consists of Ventotene and the Island of Stefan (Isola Santo Stefano).
Santo Stefano is just half a sea mile from Ventotene. The horse-shoe shape building was designed by architect Carpi was built 1794 - 95. It served as a prison for many years but is not included in the sale of this property. There is also a church and various houses (16) on the island as well as two landings. The island and buildings have good tourist potential, eventually the buildings could be developed into a hotel.
Italy is the country with the highest concentration of art, history, culture, nature, good food and wine in the world!
Note: Take notice of the prison. ;)
Note 2: Be aware our sea level will be rising, so you might end up with an Atlantis...

Looking for a new roommate
Ha! You must think 'There is a lot of walking in and out at Ine's place'.
Indeed. Bjorn and I rented an apartment one year ago. We had a misfit roomie who left because sharing a house wasn't what she hoped for, and then Marieke took her place.
(Marieke rocks)
And today Bjorn will be moving to the other part of the country to live with his girlfriend.
A pity, since he is/was the best roommate we could hope for: nice guy, clean(!), smart, a social.
But then again, I am sure there are more men on the world that fit this description.
So if you are out there and looking for a wonderful apartment with two lovely women, let us know.
We have a wonderful apartment, near the Visserij, with all luxury included.
It is actually a 2 floor penthouse with 3 sleeping rooms, bathroom, 2 wc's, a huge living space and kitchen, a wonderful terrace (actually 2), a parking spot which can be used since we don't have a car, an elevator, and it is all brand new (one year old that is)
It is close to the E40, close to Dampoort, and on a 3min drive for the centercenter of Ghent.
The perfect person is 25-35 years old, open-minded, design-minded, non-smoking and has a job to attend. (We prefer a guy, but since we are open minded girls certainly make a chance too :) )
By preference you don't have too many furniture to take along since, well, space is limited and we like to keep it 'postmodern' ;) )
A washing machine and/or dishwasher is a plus :)))
Available from September onwards.
Pics you ask?

Architecture in Chili
Of course I am reading this when back. (well, no wonder regarding the super slow internet over there..)
We could have been house peeping.
I think we actually saw a project of these architects in Santiago.
(C should confirm this.. it was a theater thing)
Which brings me to the idea: city tours featuring modern architecture, anyone thought of that before, right? Links are welcome!

More in: 'Duh! they're posting this now, when back in Belgium...'
Merging green living, camping, and comfortable suburban residence, Frohn &Rojas' Wall House in Santiago de Chile is a feat of both aesthetics and engineering. The small-scale home rejects traditional building approaches, providing an interesting take on the wall as a more qualitative and complex element, addressing our relationship with the outdoors, and inspiring social interactions within the home. Not to mention its super-cool and very high-tech'energy screen' typically used in greenhouse construction, which yields diffused lighting and a regulated interior climate zone.

Today, I read that the US can keep this info for 15 years according a new law.
I certainly don't like it.
And I certainly don't believe that within 15 years the US will destroy this info.

To readers from Ghent
I almost threw the nice anonymous letter from the Post, saying sorry because of a recent strike.
Luckily I didn't: the letter contained 8 free stamps!
So for all of you: check the mailbox, or the wasted paper bin...

No more cables, no more holes
At lot of holes in your wall: that's something you don't want. Instead of mounting your sweet new flat screen plasma TV directly on your wall-discoloring your paint and drilling holes in the drywall to keep the screen up and to hide all the wires- you'd rather have an attractive TV panel, like this one from MDF Italia. MDF's panel provides a shield for your wiring and enough slots and spaces for all of your TV paraphernalia.
MDF's website contains this gem: Simplicity is a philosophy which can be applied to almost anything in life. Ten fake dollars to anyone who can tell me three things in life that can in no way be simplified.

You Tube Playlist
Ok, I managed to make a nice custom player at YouTube, but I'd rather have a thumbnail list like the one of Flickr below... Anyone who can give me some tips? (Something like this I mean -scroll down-, and no, I don't have WP, so that plugin won't do it...)
Meanwhile: enjoy the show:

Aid
I don't believe in donations.
I believe in structured aid, in self conscience, in entrepreneurship. That's why in the past, I mainly gave structured aid to causes I know about (I still sponsor Karama)
I believe in microprojects, and microfinance
Today I read about Villagebanking, a bank that wants to give loans to the poorest so they can start a business.
Their 'about': FINCA provides financial services to the world's lowest-income entrepreneurs so they can create jobs, build assets and improve their standard of living. We target those who have the least access to services such as loans, savings programs, and insurance. Our clients include women, who make up 70 percent of the world's poor; individuals unable to find work in the formal sector; families displaced by war and internal conflict; the rural poor; and those affected by chronic poverty. With more than 20 years' experience and 500,000 clients on four continents, FINCA offers a proven solution to poverty.
See the result with a 50$ investment/gift.
50$, that's really nothing, when you know people are starting a business with it. 15 people that is.
Check it out.

Mongol Rally
The world is just a little bit too safe. Gone are the days where the edge of the map called you forth to discover what lay beyond - satellite maps and GPS have it laid out before you leave the armchair. What if you want things to go wrong? What if you want a bit of unknown in a world full health and safety measures? What if the words "adventure travel" conjure images of old ladies on a guided tour to Everest base camp with all the danger and real adventure neatly removed? What you need is the Mongol Rally.
Imagine yourself in the middle of the gargantuan Kazakh desert, your car slowly being shredded by the dirt track your map says is a motorway, completely lost hundreds of miles from civilisation with no back up crew to rescue you. Just you, your wits, your increasingly brown pants, a car that the laws of physics say shouldn't have got you past Peckham Rye and a slightly angry looking man with a gun.
If this all conspires to make you think, "my goodness that's a terribly silly idea" the Mongol Rally is probably not your cup of salted Mongolian tea. If, on the other hand, you think "hang on by gad, that's exactly what I need you've found your calling, so read on to find out what you'll be doing next summer.
From this premise evolved the great Mongol Rally, a charity event open to all who fancy the taste of some real adventure.
Ha! One day I am participating this one!
You don't need the expensive entree fees (1400 pound that is) of Paris Dakar, or Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles (13,900 euros fee that is), nor the expensive cars. And all the more adventure I think...
Love of my life, you're in too, right?

Art photography
Becoming a photographer is one thing, becoming an artist photographer featured in a gallery is a second..
Shortly said: it ain't difficult at all, since often, art has also something to do with who knows who...
There are several ways (hanging around a gallerist, appearing on gallery parties, graduate and get selected by the local museum,...)
The contest Hey, Hot shot is a nice way to invite photographers from all around to present their work, and the winners get a gallery. But meanwhile, very often high quality work is shown to possible interested people. Double win that is.
The 60$ fee is high enough to pass bad pictures and low enough to enable young artists to participate and on top of that their featured in a magazine (so it is worth the 60$ anyway)
Pic by Dan Boardman
As for the question: 'Work from outside US is accepted?' yes it is. So participate!

Design bikes
I looked and looked and looked. And looked, and looked.
And found these:
The most beautiful bike in my opinion: sleek, simple, and white. At 1300$ at Biomega.
(But apparently not available in white anymore...)
A shaft drive bicycle instead of chain (yep, you see it right, no chains)
Similar story at Beixo: Lovely design, slick, plain simple. No ugly colors.
No chain, shaft instead.
The bike is easy to fold on top of that. A perfect city bike...
But no opportunity to testdrive. You order it, pay it, and can send it back if you don't like it.
Beixo is brand new, and Dutch, and at a daring price of 648 euro, it was something I really considered.
Yet.. paying 648 euro for a bike I never sat on or even saw in real was a bit too much to try...
If not, I might have ended up with it, as it fitted my profile: a beautiful designed, easy to store, bicycle. If they would have had it in white, I would have been tempted even more.
Regarding the shaft: I still doubt. It is kind of strange we don't see it more. And when doing some research online, shaft seems to have some trouble (strange cracking sound). I also wonder if it is not harder due to some rules of physics (but I can be wrong on this one, as said I never drove one.)
(Which of course can be arranged: I am always willing to test one :) )

Be Manos
Be manos is a new designer hotel in Brussels. 60 cosy rooms near the NMBS South.
There was opted for simplicity: all the rooms are in black and white. Lounge, restaurant and some other places were designed by contemporary Belgian designers (such as Michael Bihain). The rooms were done by the owners (family Poulgouras) themselves.
Little details like the 65 portraits hanging in the rooms and the other spaces, make the hotel really personal.
Really classy, and a true inspiration.

Israeli in Beirut
It must have been quite shocking for Hezbollah to notice an Israeli journalist made it into Beirut. They spread the word she's Mossad.
I guess many people watched the popular channel 10, to see this interview, as they always wonder how daily life looks like in Lebanon. Lisa Goldman did a daring job going out there as a jew.
Few years back, after visiting Lebanon, I told my Israeli friends Beirut looks like what Tel Aviv wants to be.
It still seems like that, and actually it is good to here an Israeli say 'It looks like Tel Aviv'.
On top of that her interview gives hope 'I didn't experience the anti semitism I was expecting.' and the final note reveals that today Beirut is populated by people who not necessarily support Hezbollah anymore. Nice.
(Lisa's a journalist and blogger. We are in touch once in a while and I really like her reports. What's interesting in this story is she went there because of the fact she made friends as a blogger.)

Convertible Houses
"Make every inch in your home work harder!" and you won't have to buy a bigger one. That's both the stated and implicit premise of Convertible Houses, a book dedicated to illustrating the "principles of multipurpose living" with creative design, aggressive space planning and convertible devices. The book features 12 convertible projects in all, located in in New York, London, Paris, Tokyo, Toronto, Hong Kong, Brazil and more. The houses exemplify convertible living from foldaway kitchens to foldout offices, from swiveling walls to cantilevering lofts. Hardcover, 192 pages, well illustrated, $16.47 at Amazon.
Another book added to my wish-list, as I have a tiny apartment to renovate.

Coca Cola Sexism
Coke Zero is the same as Coke Light.
But Coke Light was mainly sold to women, and men saw it as the drink for softies.
So Coca Cola Company launched Coke Zero with a different macho look.
Machi it is definitely... 'Talk Amina in 4 steps into your kingsize bed'
Dunno. Do guys really go for this kind of talk?
Where did the new man go??

iPhone
I already told on this site that I am not so much convinced of buying an iPhone.
Only if it starts to feature the wearable mediacentre that is able to broadcast to my mediacentre, I'll get convinced.
If skype gets a iPhone makeover, if another dozen apps are integrated, then I'll start to doubt. Meanwhile my n80 fulfills what I need: I drop it, again, agian, and it still lives ;)
Yet, iPhone apps do rock...Unfortunately you cannot access them with another phone.WHy didn't all these other phone manufacturers invented this earlier so they made a standard that works for everyone?
