Design bikes
I looked and looked and looked. And looked, and looked.
And found these:
The most beautiful bike in my opinion: sleek, simple, and white. At 1300$ at Biomega.
(But apparently not available in white anymore...)
A shaft drive bicycle instead of chain (yep, you see it right, no chains)
Similar story at Beixo: Lovely design, slick, plain simple. No ugly colors.
No chain, shaft instead.
The bike is easy to fold on top of that. A perfect city bike...
But no opportunity to testdrive. You order it, pay it, and can send it back if you don't like it.
Beixo is brand new, and Dutch, and at a daring price of 648 euro, it was something I really considered.
Yet.. paying 648 euro for a bike I never sat on or even saw in real was a bit too much to try...
If not, I might have ended up with it, as it fitted my profile: a beautiful designed, easy to store, bicycle. If they would have had it in white, I would have been tempted even more.
Regarding the shaft: I still doubt. It is kind of strange we don't see it more. And when doing some research online, shaft seems to have some trouble (strange cracking sound). I also wonder if it is not harder due to some rules of physics (but I can be wrong on this one, as said I never drove one.)
(Which of course can be arranged: I am always willing to test one :) )
