Sony Press Event: the new Alpha reflex being released.
Press release of new Alpha 700:
I will update this page a much a possible. You can also read some stuff at Twitter.com/matuvu as this seems a quite good way to use twitter ;)
8.00: Speech starts.
8.15: Sony never made it a secret they wanted to become leader in digital imaging.
(In my opinion a high goal they're aiming at, but then again, few years ago, they wanted to do the same thing in the gaming market, and they successfully passed Nintendo, and they certainly caught a large piece of the gaming market with their PSP, and later on, their PSP portable became a huge success. SO we might be surprised)
8.21: Toru Katsumoto comes to speech.
8.22: launching 2 new models higher than the Alpha: presenting one today: the Alpha 700
8.23: features: excellent shooting + excellent viewing.
8.24: excellent shooting:
-new 12.24 CMOS 'Exmor', low noise digital signal enabling 3200 shooting
-supersteadyshot: anti shake, slow shutterspeed easier to shoot with.
-better magnesium lightweight body
-better dust an moisture resistance.
-690 grammes
-5fps high speed continious
-nw 11-point high performance AF
8.28: excellent viewing
-HDMI interface: you can connect it to your Sony Bravia :)
you don't need no longer a projector or diaprojector, but can connect you're camera straight away to your HD tv.
-PhotoTV HD on Bravia: photo-like quality of Full HD Still pictures. The Sony Bravia got adapted to make sure the Bravia reproduces fine quality and better color.
-bigger LCD: 921k dot 3.0: rather large LCD with better quality so you can see your images in light conditions.
-new raw high speed software.
8.31: conclusion: better camera.
8.32: 4 more new lenses.
-DT 16-105mm f3.5-5.6
-DT 18-250mm f3.5-6.63
-DT 70-300 f4.5-5.6 G SSM (with super sonic motor)
8.34: new grip + other accessoiries, like filters
8.35: Richard Kalvar from Magnum Photos comes to stage. Says he wouldn't use the Alpha 100 professionally, but he would use the 700, since it meets all his necessities: 12milj pixels, raw, good zeiss lenses and good speed.
Shows off his pictures shot with it.
Field report: light camera, good grip, finger naturally on release button, easy change iso settings, essential control within reach.
But what is lacking according to him: full frame. But he says 'We might expect this anytime soon'...
We are off to test the camera now. More news later.

I'll wait for the synopsis here, twitter is just a bit too time-consuming for me. I've had my IRC addiction years back!
