Sangre Flamenca, a short review

(People waiting for the show)

With all the miss and shopping stories, we'd almost forget what this trip all about: Flamenco.

Yes, I went to the premiere of Rojas & Rodriguez, and yes, I enjoyed it a lot.

The shortest way to describe their show is: a modern version of traditional flamanco dance, with a mixture of classical ballet.
This description doesn't do right to their show, as it is much more: a performance, with life music, and improvisation, yet with a coordination never seen.
Perfect light, wonderful dresses and costumes.
A behind it all, a story, woven through the whole piece.

I have never been so keen on typical traditional dances, or their modern derivates.
But I truly have to admit I watched this show with open mouth.
The passion, the moves, and the dancers wonderful perfect buts :)

Said in someone elses words:
The show is based on fusion, form and entertainment. Spanish classical, contemporary dance and flamenco dancing are intermingled to shape a particular style which materializes in pieces that are now bright and colorful, now virtuous. Prevailing in the group work is the dynamics, the color, the pretty, the non-stop motion. In the individual, the stress is on exhibiting technique, with a little discreet use of the mechanisms that bring on applause. And there was a lot of it throughout the night … even to the beat in the middle of the show. Both Carlos Rodríguez and Ángel Rojas brandished the same weapons, outdoing themselves with each onslaught in quantitative and technical matters.

My only comment is: it could have been a tiny bit shorter, but honestly, I think that's due to the fact I got a bit tired because of the shopping ;)
You can check it out for yourself as Sangre Flamenca comes to Oostende on April 2 & 3.
