Genetically engineered plants detect land mines by changing color

Genetically changes, good or bad, gets a different approach when reading this article:

 Materials Processes Plant Land Mine
When the roots of these GMO flowers hit nitrogen dioxide (which leaches into the soil from buried land mines), the plant changes color.
