Follow your heart, always, even when it is hard to stick to it..

40. Give us a song that describes your year.

Extreme ways are back again
Extreme places I didn't know
I broke everything new again
Everything that I'd owned
I threw it out the windows, came along
Extreme ways I know move apart
The colors of my sea
Perfect color me

Extreme ways that that help me
Help me out at night
Extreme places I had gone
But never seen any light
Dirty basements, dirty noise
Dirty places coming through
Extreme worlds alone
Did you ever like it planned

I would stand in line for this
There's always room in life for this

Extreme songs that told me
They helped me down every night
I didn't have much to say
I didn't get above the light
I closed my eyes and closed myself
And closed my world and never opened
Up to anything
That could get me along

I had to close down everything
I had to close down my mind
Too many things to cover me
Too much can make me blind
I've seen so much in so many places
So many heartaches, so many faces
So many dirty things
You couldn't believe

I would stand in line for this
It's always good in life for this

Oh baby, oh baby
Then it fell apart, fell apart
Oh baby, oh baby
Like it always does, always does

Podcasting, the sequel..

Verstrepen announced 2 days ago on his weblog that he will object the VCM decision, that he will file a complaint against Prime Minister’s Verhofstadt’s personal podcast on his site, the Flemish and Belgian Federal Parliament’s podcasts, - and that he will not pay the fine and will continue podcasting.

As every citizen can report a podcast to the VCM, of which he suspects it might not have been registered,- Verstrepen urges on his weblog today to file complaints against all podcasts of politicians and government institutions to flood the VCM.

More on the matter:

Podcasting war in Belgium takes a start... Be aware.

Let's flow.

Flow is a mental state of operation in which the person is fully immersed in what he or she is doing, characterized by a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and success in the process of the activity. Proposed by psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, the concept has been widely referenced across a variety of fields.

As Csikszentmihalyi sees it, there are components of an experience of flow that can be specifically enumerated; he presents eight:

1. Clear goals (expectations and rules are discernable).
2. Concentrating and focusing, a high degree of concentration on a limited field of attention (a person engaged in the activity will have the opportunity to focus and to delve deeply into it).
3. A loss of the feeling of self-consciousness, the merging of action and awareness.
4. Distorted sense of time - our subjective experience of time is altered.
5. Direct and immediate feedback (successes and failures in the course of the activity are apparent, so that behavior can be adjusted as needed).
6. Balance between ability level and challenge (the activity is not too easy or too difficult).
7. A sense of personal control over the situation or activity.
8. The activity is intrinsically rewarding, so there is an effortlessness of action.

Not all of these components are needed for flow to be experienced

Fly SN

Marketing Tcm18-7884
As already told, I am part of the frequent flyer program of SN Airlines.

I subscribed for their SMS news last month.
I didn't expect to be spammed all over (since January 1st, I guess I have been receiving each hour like 10 smsses...)
I had to call them and was pretty pissed off (Imagine each 10 minutes an SMS arriving and filling up your mailbox)

Seems it was a huge technical problem, and they just smssed me, saying I receive 5000! extra miles.
That, dear gents and girlzzz, is a one way ticket in Europe...
That's what I call customer support!

(PS: Become a Privilege member yourself. Or find yourself someone with some miles on his/her account and try to get some through their transfer system.)

(PPS: I have to admit, Movable Types Support system is not bad at all either. Thank you Maarten for solving my problem!)

Buying shoes...

342501 01.Fpx&Obj=Iip,1
I need shoes, neat nice fancy shoes...

Thought of going to shop, look for bargains. But as I passed through the city today, I kinda re-thought that idea.
You can not imagine what is going on. Sales must have started.

So maybe shopping online isn't such a bad idea.
And maybe she's right.

These Puma's or these?
Or other nice stuff somewhere around?

Update: She made me want these:
Asics Tiger Mexico 66 Baja

Someone knows where I can buy these Asics Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 Baja Birches?

Kodak and Skype bring VOIP on a next level

Today Skype and Kodak anounced the launch of a joint partnership. Kodak launches the first Skype certified online photo sharing, experience, helping people talk live to friends, family and colleagues around the world while viewing a shared photo album. Now that's a great idea. To be honest, i didn't quite get the real added value of VOIP, beyond tha free aspect of it. I always read that the real added value will be on a next level, namely VOIP integrated within applications.

That's why the Skype/eBay deal should make sense: teaming up with your friends in a real time bidding proces, could make it a very entertaining and rewarding experience. And it's on this same level on which the Skype/Kodak deal makes sence: voice + storytelling while showing pictures is a relevant service.

Excuse me?? This is what PhotoBlog did already more than 2 years ago.
I remember talking to Skype about an integration, and I remember urging Maarten to do so.
We were the first, in a first adaptor strategy... And we can assure you: people DO talk about their pictures, and it seems about a lot more.
We have marvelous stories about photobloggers around the globe visiting each other.

Things that annoy me

All those well packed items (like computer wires, headphones, usb-hubs that are like melted into the plastic package) and which you cannot open without a huge knife that most of the time is trying to kill you rather than opening the package.

Update: and it turns out you bought the wrong cable...

Meanwhile in Israel

Kinda was off world recently.

But reality bites: Sharon had a stroke. A major stroke.
Doesn't look too good over there.
(I was never a supporter of Sharon, but let's put it this way: at least he was going somewhere instead of walking on the same place)

To see in London

Need to remember this for next month's visit to London.

The Reunification Suit is a business suit with printed phone numbers... a wearable filofax for when technology breaks down.

The Golden version of the suit is to be worn when you travel London. Printed on it are contact details of important numbers in London from the best Fismongers in town to the best Therapist.

The_Suitdetail.jpgfullsuit.jpg

The garments are part of the Reunification Project. Pascal Anson assembled collections of objects that once belonged to sets such as cutlery, tea cups and saucers, tables and chairs and modified their appearance, giving them new purpose and meaning.

See the work at the (second) Design Mart exhibtion, London’s Design Museum, January 14-February 19. Pictures of the first Design Mart.

Products on view include Julia Lohmann's lights made from sheep tripe, Roger Arquer’s birdhouses, Committee collages of found objects, and Matthias Megyeri’s security devices. Designers Assa Ashuach, Peter Traag, Christopher Pearson, Michael Cross & Julie Mathias, and Caroline Noordijk&Florian Ortkrass will also be among those participating.

More details in the PDF of the museum.

Dennis Boeckx: internet criminal?

Recently I got some mails, wondering if I lived in the Lange Boomgaardstraat and if I knew a certain Dennis Boeckx.

For all those looking for him: he moved and nobody seems to find him.
Next to that, our house owners are looking for him too.
Seems he is a criminal and sells not existing stuff on e-bay or something alike.

UK world leader in use of DNA

So you ask me why I am a little schizophrenic about putting a fingerprint?

New Home Office figures estimate that by 2008, the samples of some 4.2 million people - 7% of the UK population - will be contained on a central criminal database, which is growing by about half a million a year.

Proportionately the database is 50 times the size of the French equivalent. The next largest is in Austria, where less than 1% of the population is included. The coverage in Germany and America, is half of that.

PodBert 3 25-11-2005 "Morgen beter" op Canvas - Het einde van klassieke TV

Klassieke generalistische zenders zijn ten dode opgeschreven. In het programma "Morgen beter" op Canvast verdedigt Bert die stelling.

Thoughts about this:
I don't believe in downloading programs online for the mainstream.
I do believe in Television On Demand: You open up your television, select a program you missed (like Panorama, or a the L Word ;) )
Meanwhile the normal programming would still exist, since most people just want to follow mainstream.

The main reasons why this will take until 2012 before these prediction become reality:
-Law system in Europe (To launch video store of Apple online, there are more than 30 licences needed)
-Internet Speed needs to power up
-Quality of those programs. (I guess it will all start with offering the existing video materials)
-Most people are not interested in such a way of watching television: they don't want to download, they just want to se their program on the fixed hour.
The structure has to be easy, and well working for mainstream.

Your thoughts?

Update: after reading this (6!megs of speed!) it might be here at 2011 ;)

New videoconferencing tool (for Mac+PC)?

Yak looks very much like Ineen (which we remember from months ago...)
Is it better? I guess, because Ineen didn't allow you to call to ordinary numbers...
Yet I didn't find the feature to call other SIP enabled accounts other than Yak.

But I guess it will do to call home from the States and show my face ;)

Other videoconferencing tools for Mac and PC?

Meanwhile in Israel

Just called with TMR. Seems things are not so positive.
Elections are near, no-one expects Sharon to come back, and the motivation to vote is far away.
It seems that many democrats were going to vote for Sharon (in his new party), something which many of them refused to do while he was with the extreme-right party.

A bummer. Since everybody knows that Sharon was pushed by the USA, to define final borders, and fulfill the roadmap.

So what's next? Seems this country goes in waves: just when things seem to go in the right direction, it takes a turn.

Nervous?

Nervous to go to the blogging meeting?
No, not me, I guess the only time we were really nervous, was at the PhotoBlog meeting in the Minard.
We didn't know what to expect: 10 people or 100... It turned out more than 100 people showed up, the Minard was just big enough. And we had several visitors from abroad (as far as Paris and Amsterdam)

If I would be nervous tonight it would be about 'what to talk about', 'will I say something right or wrong'?
I am not the only one.

But I am sure we can live with that ;)

Won't bring the camera, since you guys will have gear enough (and I want to enjoy the food, not the memory)

Pietel, we'll finally meet! ;) )Pietel was one of our first PhotoBlog adepts way before PhotoBlog became this popular)

Bargain time

Sm153
Left this morning a cozy bed for too many shops.

The idea was to search for: a jeans, nice tees, a jacket, bra's and shoes.
Bummer bargain time: I walked the whole city, bought a sweater, and now, I have sore feet.
4 hours of walking for zero nothing. (OK, the sweater is actually nice, but not 'fancy' as I wished. The 7 tees I tried out were too small, too large or just not fitting at all.)
The jeans, I didn't even bother yet. I mean, I'll go Tuesday or so, when the shops are empty.
I found a jacket, but I felt uncomfortable taking it, needed to hear a 'yes' from somebody. The shop was full of people, yet, I heard no 'yes' so I left it. I hope I can grab my sis to go along on Monday.
Bummerbummer.

I am buying those sneakers tonight online! That's it.
I don't bother anymore.
I hate shopping...

De Poort

Largo Winch - 05 - H
Because of the bad bargains, I decided to go to 'De Poort', the best comic store in Gent.

I bought all the comics of Largo Winch I didn't have before. (Jihaa... can't wait to go on the plane next week...)

M1Qnetxnvg6Mdg04Wxau
And also bought a new series: Pandora's Box.

Pretty interesting:

Who said comics are boring?

The end of the world

This weekend I went to my family.
Late new year's dinner...

No wireless, and for some technical reasons, no internet al all, on none of the places (and there are many)..
Luckily the phone still exists!

NB: My grandmother (76) went mad. The Skynet guy came already 4 times to fix their new wireless ADSL, and for some reason it keeps on getting broken (My grandfather(75) swears he is not doing anything)
I guess it is the interference due to too many wireless devices.

Grandmother is nagging: now she cannot do the internet banking, nor the googling and the buying of patchwork-books on e-bay.
Skynet-boys in Skynet suits are technical nitwits in her eyes...

Television

Whilst the internet was down at the end of the world, there was nothing to do but watch television.
Nothing as asocial as watching television (OKOK, internet is asocial too, but television is fake social...)
I don't have cable at my apartment. (hey, I have internet...)
Yesterday I was reminded why: the commercials SUCK big time.
I was listening and watching with the mouth open, and rolling my eyes to my mom: Is this it?
I mean: Is this it?? Is this all those marketing guys do? Invent such lousy ads?
I guess Netlash is right when he says 'they cannot measure the results'.
Luckily probably for the marketeers, because, well, are there any results?
A spaceship that witnesses how Becel destroys 'cholesterol'?
A guy that cuts his hear because of eating cornflakes?
People that start to jump because they drink 'Actimel'?
I forgot all the others that were even worse..

Internet ads are so much cooler...

Oh and I watched the end of the Eurovision selections -due to a hyperactive Bart Peeters and a better programming elsewhere). I agree with Tales of the Crib! Totally.

Just got back from Brussels, picked up a brand new Apple 17 inch, a 15 inch and 4 iPod Videos.
Playtime!
I mean, we'll be flying 8 hours to Washington. Have to fill those machines with some awesome content.
Guess the ministers will be seeing some good vodcasts. And listen to some nice podcasts.
Peter, I'll use this list for sure.

If anyone has any tips: always welcome to send in.

Adobe announces Lightroom

Alr-003

Try the public beta here.

What is Lightroom?
Well, in Adobe’s own words “Adobe Lightroom Beta is a new, exciting image handler built from the ground up for professional photographers.”

Ok, I have no idea what an “image handler” is, but let me tell you what I think Lightroom is; a robust front-end and back-end for Camera Raw with lots of cool stuff in the middle and in need of some additional tools-which will come.

The plan...

The plan was to go to the PHP class.
That was, until the bus decided to ignore me, and the next bus didn't come.
Totally frozen I got back home.

I really intended to go. I did!

Crazy at Dreamhost

Are you considering moving to your own domain?
Are you thinking of podcasting and fear problems with bandwidth?
I guess Dreamhost just gave you a reason to go on with your plans:
They went totally nuts and now offer 20GB! of space and 1TB!! of bandwidth.

Now to make the deal even more appealing:
subscribe with the promocode 'matuvu20' and you'll get a 20$ rebate on the already 120$ bargain price for one-year of hosting.

Tellin' you: perfect bargain.
Christmas is in January!

RSS

Yesterday I was talking with Britt about RSS and other stuff.
It is true, most sites don't need it since they are little companies that use their site as an advertisement that rarely changes.
But you have to admit:
When seeing Rood has an RSS-feed announcing when they have holidays, I think that's easy. Plus, each time something new happens, I suddenly see them popping up in my reader, reminding me I like to go and eat there...
Another example: Vooruit that tells me Zita Swoon is sold out.
It is not the news that is the message, it is the fact of the news itself: I am reminded of Vooruit, and my first thought is: go and see something. Hammering on my head.
Perfect and free marketing...

Charlie White: Everything is American

Might want to go and visit in NYC...

everythingisamerican2.jpg

"Everything is American," photographer Charlie White's first solo show in nearly three years, opens this Friday, 13 January, at Andrea Rosen Gallery in New York. White's latest subjects, like the Tate-LaBianca murder trial, gymnastics, and early man, are cultural touchstones that capture the popular imagination and inspire controversy. Created with elaborately-staged sets and lighting design, his work is about the horror and pathos of history and current events; in part, a comment on how popular mediums like film and television communicate these collective stories. The dramas as envisioned by White's unflinching gaze make for unsettling results: a young gymnast open-mouthed in her coach's arms, a human-like creature with gore in his hand and at his feet (Homo Habilis, pictured above left), and a courtroom crowd foregrounded by three women with shaved heads (Tate-LaBianca, above right). Honest and ambiguous—Is she yelling or moaning? Are the entrails human or animal?—the effect is neither drained of emotion nor overtly manipulative.

Through 18 February 2006 at Andrea Rosen Gallery, 525 West 24th Street (opening reception: 13 January, 6 - 8 pm and running concurrently at f a projects in London through 25 February 2006.

Finally: Record 16-bit digital audio with your iPod

Record 16-bit digital audio with your iPod:

Here's a great podcasting tool. The MicroMemo by XtremeMac is a mic that plugs into your iPod's dock connector port and produces 22 KHz/16-bit, high quality recordings. The mic is on a flexible neck for easy positioning, and there's a built in speaker for instant playback (no need to put on the headphones). The MicroMemo is powered by the iPod (we're not sure how much of a strain that's going to put on the iPod's battery) and the mic can be detached. Plus it just looks cool.

XtremeMac is currently taking pre-orders at $79.95US.

Table for six with chairs that disassembles to fit in a small box

The Mealbox is a Japanese-style dining-room table with six seats that cleverly disassembles to fit in a 43cm X 68cm X 77cm box. It's made from birch plywood and carbon nanofibre, with neoprene seats. When boxed, you can use it as a coffee table.

Not so much...
Play nice video's on your video iPod provided by the nice Apple Belgium guys.

Then you have a stopover in Gander.

Gander or did not changed since the seventies or dug up its furniture of the seventies since it is fancy again...

After refilling the machine with fuel, another 3 hours to Washington.
In which we played around with Google Earth (more on that one very soon)

We arrived in Washington, drove through emptied highways and now I have to run to take pics of Madeleine Allbright.

Jetlagged...

4.30 AM, and I can't sleep...

Jetlag, (aka "jetlag" or "jet-lag"), is a physiological condition consequence of alterations of the circadian rhythm. Such alterations result from shift work, transmeridian travel, or altered day length. They are known as desynchronosis, dysrhythmia, dyschrony, jet lag, or jet syndrome. The condition is generally believed to be the result of disruption of the "light/dark" cycle that entrains the body's circadian rhythm. It can be exacerbated by environmental factors.

Characteristic symptoms of jet lag include:

* Fatigue (YEP, I have)
* Disorientation and/or grogginess (sure)
* Nausea and/or upset stomach (absolutely)
* Headaches and/or sinus irritation
* Insomnia and/or highly irregular sleep patterns (well..it is 4am, isn't it)
* Dehydration and loss of appetite
* Irritability
* Irrationality (hmmm, knowing what I think know, you would probably call me irrational indeed...)

Ai Greetdekeyzer It normally takes you 2 weeks to adapt to jetlag. The main reasonis your stomach needs to adapt to the time difference.
Last night, we didn't get that opportunity at all, since we were invited at the Belga Cafe in Washington DC.
The Belga Cafe is owned by a Flemish bloke, and the boyfriend of the always stunning Greet De Keyzer (who unfortunately left the VRT, and doesn't give us a charming smile on TV anymore. Too bad, in real life she is even more stunning and more charming.)

We had delicious food.
Really delicious.

So if you happen to be in Washington DC, and you happen to be hungry, go for it: Belga Cafe.

Arrived in NYC

City that never sleeps.
I am falling like a stone...

But all the work has to be done: I am uploading some of the pics to a web-gallery. (Url follows after I get some time to clean up some images...)
We need to send images to the invest site.

In case you'd think these trips are just fun, I can assure you, they do kill...
We barely sleep 4 hours a night here.
(But I admit, it is fun...)
Didn't see anything of Washington but hotel lobbies, hotel rooms, and conference rooms. And OK, an Oval Room, for which I might be envied...)

No pics of NYC yet. But tomorrow afternoon we'll be seeing Koffi Annan. And the New York Stock Exchange.
So more pics to come :)

To satisfy your photo-hunger: another pic out of the White House.

SnowBlog: teach from a distance

Some of you might have read already something on SnowBlog, but since many of you seem to be new readers lately:
SnowBlog is a project I started with some enthusiast people over in Israel. It was supported by the Belgian Consulate.
SnowBlog is trying to create bridges through the web.
After one year, the project didn't stop, at this moment we are still busy.

Though the site might seem inactive, in fact behind the scenes and on an intranet, kids are communicating with each-other.
Recently we received a letter from MIT that they want to cooperate with us in a common project.

Gal-Teaching-In-Gaza
On this pic, an Israeli teacher is giving classes to kids in Gaza via internet and the snowblog-platform.

Compari pendant light

campari.jpg

This cheeky pendant light by lighting designer Ingo Maurer is made of 10 original Campari bottles, each one detachable. It's not surprising that Campari bottles make a visually striking lamp - the color of Comapri always struck me as lush and beautiful. The lamp is relatively affordable compared to other Maurer lamps and is currently on sale for $289 at
Form & Function.

You should check out Maurer's other designs and lighting installations on his website. They are stunning, whimsical and fantastic. One of my favorites is the very fanciful Birdie chandelier.

Hmmm, why I left for Israel back then??
They surely didn't have this campaign running back then.
(And guys and some girls: they beach really isn't filled with these beauties. -Well, not the WHOLE beach, that is...-)

Bush's photographer

While in the White House, I happened to talk to 2 of Bush's personal photographers (he has 3...), which was quite interesting.
While looking to get in touch with one of them, I googles 'White House Photographer' and found a series of interesting links.

Check this one.
And check photoessays here.
I also found an interesting interview with several White House photographers here.

Also nice to know is this:

The position of White House photographer was first officially created by President Lyndon Johnson and held by Yoichi Okamoto. Reportedly, Johnson had been unhappy with the photographs taken of him, noting that the camera was kinder to his predecessor, John. F. Kennedy.

Previously photographers from other federal entities—such as the Army, Navy, Air Force, and National Park Service—were periodically assigned to cover the President for the historical record. Starting in 1941, Park Service photographer Abbie Rowe filled the position for a quarter century, covering five Presidencies, from Franklin D. Roosevelt's to Johnson's.

Oval Office

Some people asked me if I found it impressive to be in the Oval Office.
Yep, I certainly did.
Yep, it was quite strange to come into this famous place and see Mr. Bush and Condi Rice in front of me, and no sign of our Prime Minister.

But I guess what was more stunning to me, is the fact I know this Office from pictures of long time ago.

Ken1

I stood near this table, I watched the room like they did 65 years ago...
That was the very impressive moment for me.

Interesting: Iranian blogger visits Israel

The world will report on this soon:
Hoder, an Iranian-Canadian blogger, will visit Israel.
He is invited by Lisa Goldman, an Israeli Canadian blogger (who I follow since months)
He is followed by many readers worldwide, not only Iranian (he claims to have more than 20.000 readers)

This is what I call citizen reporting, with a much larger impact than any other tool.
Curious to see what he writes the following days.

Encarta Conversations...

Welcome back, Ine! How can I help you?
Did you know? According to some authorities, cats that are allowed outdoors have an average life expectancy of two to three years; the average life expectancy of indoor cats is about 15 years
-Do you have a name?
Hey. What is going on?
You were wondering?
My name is Encarta® Instant Answers, I can bring you Encarta answers directly in this IM window.
I'm a little bored. Why don't you ask me questions I could try to look up in Encarta? :-)
If you ever wondered how old Thomas Edison would be today, I can answer that.

-I would like to know what 'flow' is
Yes? What about Flow?
-Can you explain me a little about it?
Maybe you should explain you a little about it? instead
-Flow in psychology, what is it?
I don't think I know.

Wallah!! The encyclopedia doesn't know...

CMS-Channel

Today I was at the conference of CMS Channel, which tries to explain something new on CMS systems.
Tried: I did not learn anything new. (But hey, I am a geek...)

What I did learn (not on CMS though):
-Most lectures in Belgium seem to be in English, in order for everyone to understand. Funny... I thought we are all bilingual here.
-Don't think your attendee is stupid (If I come to learn something about CMS, expect I do know something about CMS before)
-Slides don't need to be filled with text (I gladly refer to this site for a good guide how to make a powerpoint)
-According to a speaker, men don't ask directions, women do (Hey I became more of a woman the last year...)

There was a lottery with Vincent Kompany T-shirt as a price (the conference was at the Anderlecht football stadium)
He won (Yep, he is working for our school ;) )
(And, is it on e-Bay already?)

Wifi networks in Ghent

While driving into Ghent tonight, I had Airstumbler on (Airstumbler searches for wifi networks)
I was surprised to see it found a dozen wifi networks from entering Ghent until my apartment. I was disappointed to find only 4 of them free...
Clickx and other PC magazines certainly warned the people form 'invaders'.
A pity...
My network is still open and free for surfing (That is: until someone steals my bandwidth...).

Swimming

Vaneyck06

Went swimming last night (I dare to write about it now, since I managed to not skip one week since the start of the new year.. Who said Belgians are the toughest/keeping their vows?)

Went to Van Eyck, even if that one is the furthest to go for me.
It is a beautiful swimming pool, and late at night there aren't too many people (especially in the end of the week, when students are off partying)
Van Eyck is a historic place, dating from 1886, and renewed last year, with respect to the original architecture.

1.75 euro for students. 2.5 for Ghentish people.

iPod and PSP as standards

A while ago, I asked Peter to add an RSS icon for iPod Video and PSP, since I believed they would become standard formats in the downloading of video's.
Today I watch video.google.com, where you can download content: 3 options: for pc/mac, for video ipod and for PSP.
Guess I was quite right with my bet.

BTW: for those with video iPods: free downloads on video.google.com ;)

Suddenly something reminded me...

I'm not no red football
To be kicked around the garden
No no
I'm a red christmas-tree ball
And I'm fragile
I'm not no animal

I'm not no crocodile
Like the one in Dublin Zoo
Who lived in a cage
the length and breadth of his body
When a window which people would look through
And throw coins on his back to taunt him
'though he couldn't move
Even if he wanted to

I'm not no animal in the zoo
I'm not no whipping boy for you
You may not treat me like you do
I'm not no animal in the zoo
My skin is not a football for you
My head is not a football for you
My body's not a football for you
My womb is not a football for you
My heart is not a football for you
I'm not no animal in the zoo

A song from Sinead O'Connor of ages ago.
Still love it.

Avoiding the news

I don't know why but lately I just avoided any news sources.
Didn't check the Standaard, nor any RSS feeds, didn't see tv for the last 3 weeks. (not even when being at home in the weekend)
And it feels perfectly fine.

So what is happening lately?
Sharon? Still alive?
A roof that gets down
and Hamas that wins the elections...

I swear that at the very moment I am about to google this stuff online, Pietel invites me to Newsvine (seconds ago)
And there is Google News...

Bought a Rony-mobile

Cws31Afw 13052High 1022 0 4000
Yep, it happened to me again... I lost my mobile.

Must be number 10 or so...

After a profound design survey (with her) and the practical side (I want only mobiles with Bluetooth and Mac-compatibility.) I bought the z520i.
(The fact that it closes makes sure I cannot make phone calls without knowing. ILI)

Cws31Afw 13119High 1022 0 4000
Now, when arriving home, I discovered that in fact it is a Rony-mobile...

It has lights all over, and when some one calls me, it seems like a juke-box going off...
Wallah!

Took me a while before finding the solution to that problem (and dimming the lights).
By now, it turned into a nice normal phone, and I like it.

Tip for the Apple-users: the z520i does synchronize with iSync in Panther, but you need to set up the bluetooth from the phone and not through the Apple Bluetooth set up. (This will save you needless annoyance.)

Wireless Ixus

Canon Digital Ixus Wireless
I was just about to write that buying my little Ixus Elph sd450 made me make snapshots again.

The only thing missing about the machine is wireless image transfer -hey, I became lazy, everything is wireless over here: wifi and bluetooth-.

And what do I read seconds ago?
The SD 430 is released: wireless wifi connection to your computer...

"With Wi-Fi networking integrated into most new laptops sold today and industry-standard add-on adapters available to easily upgrade older notebooks and desktop machines, the ability to use Wi-Fi to transfer photos from digital cameras is becoming an increasingly attractive option. Though not the first manufacturer to produce a consumer-level camera with wireless capabilities--Kodak and Nikon came to market before--Canon has created a boon for remote-shooting fans with its PowerShot SD430, a 5-megapixel ultracompact that is basically a PowerShot SD400 with a slightly different body and a built-in Wi-Fi transmitter."

It is exactly the same one I have but WITH wifi.
Grumbllll...
