Picasa
My grandparents bought a digital cam (because they like to be cool I guess.)
The digital camera isn't anything, it is after buying the trouble starts.
Each time I come over I have to explain them loads of stuff. And since I am this kind of 'fast' person, yes, it sometimes annoys me.
But I installed Picasa for them, and it works like a charm (nope I didn't covert them to Apple yet...)
My grandfather, 76, knows now how to import and email those pictures.
How to print and how to make galleries.
The only thing they are wondering now is how to send it to the digital online store -for which he skyped me more than once already-. And well loads of other stuff like: can they use the card inside more than once or do they throw it away. How comes this cards gets full? And why oh why can a digital camera make movies?
Grandparents, I tell you.... Sigh... ;)
So to all the other grandparents (and dummies): give it a try!

My mother is just the same!!
And we have to be patient all the time, otherwise it's our fault that they don't understand anything of it :-)
good luck with it!
