Belgacom the sequel...

"Geachte heer, mevrouw,
Gebruikersnaam: ******
Paswoord: ******
Naam van de databank:
nieks schrijven"

Huh? Nieks schrijven?
As far as I know a database has:
-a login
-a password
-a server where it is hosted.
and
-a name.

Or is this my mistake?

Same answer:
'Onze technische dienst voorziet jammer genoeg geen ondersteuning in verband met de creatie van uw databank.'

Cool, back to the beginning...
I have a hosting at Dreamhost, which does ALL this stuff automatically, gives me the right answers in a minute, and helps me out with a wiki and a support. The wiki answers my questions in 90% of the cases, IF I have any questions...
That hosting costs me almost nothing!
And how come, a hosting at Belgacom costs double, gives me each time WRONG answers and doesn't solve my stuff even when I am PAYING for it?

PS: Yes I figured it out by now. By myself.
The only thing one of these support guys had to do is tell me.
But none of them did.
And yes I am sure some of them do know, and are willing to tell. But that means you have found a pearl amongst empty shields.
If you find yourself that pearl at Belgacom, ask his/her name, and never forget it...

and? The solution was?

BTW, if you have the name of that belgacom guy, how would you get back to him?

I have similar experiences with their phone lines, and there was no way I could ask for the same person by just dialing the 0800-number, they would not allow me to.

Belgacom is annoying!

"BTW, if you have the name of that belgacom guy, how would you get back to him?"

When I was a student I worked in a helpdesk of the country's second mobile access provider. We weren't allowed to transfer calls to a person. Looks like it's a common practice in helpdesks. Probably because it causes a productivity issue and a bad service level: if that person is busy another person has to wait for that person to finish before transferring the call. But I'm talking about some years ago.

Ine, "nieks schrijven" makes me laugh. "niks" is an easy word to spell for everyone but they manage to misspell that. And aren't you also supposed to "type" on a computer? Or didn't Belgacom evolve to a digital platform yet?

the answer was: open the phpMyAdmin panel, login, make a databse myself WITH name, and do all the rest allover. (It means they did install phpMyAdmin, but not a database...)
It was SOOO easy to explain, but no one actually did that effort.
