Sex education

Wbcf2

Found via Klue

The thing is, we had such a book at home too. I guess I was about 5 or so.

Once my grand mother found it.
She freaked out, and I believe my parents and my grand parents didn't talk for several weeks.

Didn't help me a lot though, that book... ;)

Smile of the day

A koala is sitting up a gum tree … smoking a joint when a little lizard walks past and looks up and says,
“Hey Koala ! What are you doing?”
The koala says:
“Smoking a joint, come up and have some.”

So the little lizard climbs up and sits next to the koala and they have a few joints. After a while the little lizard says his mouth is ‘dry’ and is going to get a drink from the river. But the little lizard is so stoned that he leans too far over and falls into the river.

A crocodile sees this and swims over to the little lizard and helps him to the side, then asks the little lizard:
“What’s the matter with you?”

The little lizard explains to the crocodile that he was sitting smoking a joint with the koala in the tree, got too stoned and then fell into the river while taking a drink.

The crocodile says he has to check this out and walks into the rain forest, finds the tree where the koala is sitting finishing a joint, and he looks up and says “Hey you!”

So the koala looks down at him and says:
“Shiiiiiiiiiiit dude … how much water did you drink?!!”

Spam

Some people enlighten the day by making a toy out of spam for blogs.
But to me spam is just a big annoyance.
Especially in my mailbox. (My blog is well protected by TypePad, one of the advantages of being hosted rather than maintain the system by yourself...)

I am closing down some of my email addresses because of the amount of spam.

Anyone offering tips on how to protect my mailbox (for Apple Mail that is)
I am about to consider this system that asks verification from everyone, because, really, things are getting on my nerves...

Update: checked with my mailhost (www.webservice.be, the best, hosts all my important mailadresses)
Hey said spammers found a new way to go past viruscheckers. something veryvery technical (hey, I am a nerd, but not such a nerd ;) ) But the problem should be solved.
But I am not the only one complaining about an overload of spam these days... Hope they have a good mailhost too...

Accident on the highway

Cruzer Ti 1Gb Angle
Somehow I lost my motor bag on the highway (byebye digicam, byebye cards and a little bit of other stuff...Byebye 20 euro in my pocket)

The most amazing thing: the police retuned what they found (no there was no accident) including my Cruzer.

My Cruzer was probably ran over by a truck.
And I have to admit what they say: it still works! Cruzer Titanium is indeed worth its name.

In resume what I got back: my gloves, my rain coat, my fidelity-cards, library-card, identity-card, papers of the motorcycle, SIS-card, Lijn-card, SVMB-card, token of the government, my cruzer, and my e-banking tool. My keys of the house (broken) and of my former house (not broken), key of my lock (not used)
What I lost: my digicam, 20 euro, and my cards, key of the lock that is on my bike now... And my motorbags... Plus all my cards (Expensive night..)

Thank you police of Aalter for returning what's left.
And that is quite a lot.

Peter's birthday

So I went to Peter's birthday.
Unfortunately, as raid in the last post, my digicam got lost on the highway.
So no pictures of him.

Although, I am sure he'll post some on his flickr account soon...

Reach of your blog....

I like the 'reach of your blog factor'

When looking into for example Peter's statistics it says:
Belstat: 561
Sitemeter: 795
Feedburner: 342 (ok that's only feeds...)

Now, if it were for the 'ad statistics' I'd prefer the Sitemeter thingy ;)
But the real questions stays: what is the real reach of your blog then?
And can one count it in numbers?

Mefeedia videoblog queue in SecondLife

I already wrote about the fact I am convinced of the possibilities of Second Life.
This implementation even gets me more convinced....

David Meade send a post to the videoblogging mailing list: he has managed to put his mefeedia queue rss feed in SecondLife, so you can see videoblogs in SecondLife. It's hard to explain but easy to see: the videos play really surprisingly great. You can move around in the room, the video keeps playing, it all works great. Here's a screenshot:

Now lets take it a little bit further:
Das Pop makes good music, makes little movies, and instead of putting them on myspace, puts them on a theatre in SecondLife.
Or ;) a video production company makes a movie theatre in SecondLife, only showing 'their' movies.
Or Coolz0r collects nice ads, but instead of showing them in a blog, he makes his own cinema/slideshow in SecondLife (hey Miel, you owe me for that idea!!! ;p)

Which makes me think, you think could add an rss out of you tube? would be veryvery cool...

Story of the day

When it comes to mortgages: one big tip: check all the banks and don't hesitate to put them up to each other...

I went from 4.43, to 4.30, to 4.22 and the last offer received is 4.15!
Update: 4,14 by another bank.
Can tell you the difference in paying is huge!
I saved already like 20 euro a month, just by bargaining. (And not signing too soon)
(Last March the absolute bottom was 3.80 or something like that, so my aim is to go to 4.00 ;P )

For those interested: my 'schuldsaldoverzekering' dropped from the general 3200 euro at the most known banks to 1400 euro (still in the same banks)
So they are really capable of dropping prices!

Biggest disappointment until now is unfortunately Immotheker. But maybe my case is too easy to make something good out of it. I mean: it is probably in situations like 'living together but not being married and yet want to buy something together' the whole matter is much more complicated and fiscal advantages are to be sought.

As for the mortgages: ask around, talk to everybody, even if they are sick and tired to hear about it. Everybody know a story of someone who got a good price, and check them out.
If it saves you 30 euro a month during the next 25 years, I think it is worth it...
You have 4 months to find a good loan, use it.

Help needed from scripting geniusses ;)

I have this page: www.matuvu.nu/vcard.
When click on one of the 6 little images a lightbox thing gets to work, and frankly speaking, I love the effect.
A minor disadvantage is, when you don't click on the image but mouse over, because of the title-tage, a 'post-it' note appears in most browsers.

I don't want the post-it...

Bart already advised me to use ThickBox, but I don't like it so much. It hasn't have the same smooth effects.
Has anyone a solution to my problem?

Thanks.

From today onwards you can watch Hollywould.be on TMF.

Why am I mentioning this? Because my little (well he used to be little...) nephew is acting in it.
Senne Dehandschutter that is. (So this is a shameless promotion) (You might recognize him as the little kid in Vaneigens)

He and his companions went to Hollywould to make a one-minutemovie with a Hollywood-star.
Will they succeed?

After17

After17
After17 is a Chinese online-magazine I collaborate with.

In their recent special issue, they used pictures made by Israeli, Israeli-Arab and Palestinian children.
It became a beautiful piece of work, worth checking.
Some of the pictures were taken in the SnowBlog project, some by me, and some by some friends of me, and some bloggers I read (Lisa Goldman, we finally worked on a project together!)

The honors entirely go to dear friend Moko Chen, and the photographers themselves.
Congrats!

Too bad I don't read Chinese...

Destination India?

India will sideswipe you with its size, clamour and diversity - but if you enjoy delving into convoluted cosmologies and thrive on sensual overload, then it is one of the most intricate and rewarding dramas unfolding on earth, and you'll quickly develop an abiding passion for it.

Nothing in the country is ever quite predictable; the only thing to expect is the unexpected, which comes in many forms and will always want to sit next to you. India is a litmus test for many travellers - some are only too happy to leave, while others stay for a lifetime.

Hmmm.. Which kind of traveller will I be? The latter?
(At least we won't face this kind of trouble.)

Linden Lab reported today that it is notifying its community of a database breach, which potentially exposed customer data including the unencrypted names and addresses, and the encrypted passwords and encrypted payment information of all Second Life users. Unencrypted credit card information, which is stored on a separate database, was not compromised.

The perfect camera-bag

Mo-E-Pic1

I have been crying out loud for bags like these few years ago: Naneu Pro.
Not the ordinary and very uncomfortable sidebag, nor the bagpack that doesn't allow you to quickly grab your camera/lens.
But the messenger bag, turn, open up and take what you need, close it, swing it and it is back on your back.

A pity my portable doesn't fit in..

(Actually this one is even better..)

Oil prices vs mortgage

My Immotheker told me the percentage of a mortgage is independent from the oil prices.

Can he please explain this:

Oliemarkt 1Jaar

Rentemarkt 1Jaar

Thank you...

(Sidenote: ECB is ready for a raise..
My personal opinion: prices of oil will go down a little bit more since the conflict in the Middle East has stabilized, and on top of that a huge new oil field was discovered in the States. The interest will go down accordingly. But the ECB announces a raise from October onwards. I'll take my loan before that date. -I'll have to anyway, since the apartment really doesn't wait for me...-)

Designer's Weekend

IMG_2945.JPG

In my memories Designers Weekend was something special: there were little busses driving people around, starting at a place offering a little apero, continuing to the next place where you were welcomed with a little appetizer, followed by a small lunch at the next place and so on.
(I remember the food VERY well, so no one will convince me I dreamt it... Years ago, DWE was something special WITH food.)

Yesterday I was a little disappointed: the cars were not so well organized and there was no such thing as something special. So our fine little group switched from design weekend to fancy bars, and a park.
Regarding the weather it was even better than seeing design (the bars were actually pretty design too).

As for DWE, I think it just became too popular during the years.
And I guess I grew up and what was new and spectacular design back then is something I know these days. (Actually the designers just stayed the same. Still like them.)

Yessss! Nooooo!

Apple announces today:

Yessss!

-TV shows are now encoded at 640x480 (h264), up from 320x240 Told you so. Love it since I really buy series online and when I burn them I prefer dvd quality...(I think I will try to download everything I bought once again for better quality...)
-Movies!
From today onwards: films from Walt Disney, Pixar, Touchstone, Miramax. 75 films online now, more every week and month, most titles will be 9.99. Near DVD quality. Same encoding as TV shows at 640x480. If you have a 5mb/s broadband connection, it will take approximately 30 minutes to download a movie. Dolby surround audio in videos
(Hehe we have 15mBps here...)
U.S. now, International in 2007. (Yeah sure.. I know where to download my stuff today.)
That's 8 euro for a movie. Still a lot.
Video Palace offers similar prices, and one can rent a dvd there for quite a while.

Nooooo!

-New iPods.. Brighter video screens? That's it??? C'mon. They must be joking...

Yeeeeesssssss!

-You can take content to computer or iPod, but now... TV
1/2 size of Mac Mini, built-in power supply, USB, Ethernet, 802.11 "wireless component video", optical audio and HDMI ports, plus old RCA stereo audio ports. Works with Apple Remote.

I know what to save for :)

Nope no mobile. Dream on...

Apple iTunes: first test

Apple1
Now, when Apple announces 'h264' quality for their series/movies I wanted to see.

So I logged in to my account and checked what I wanted to see, Prison Break Second Season Episode 3 appeared to be a good choice.

The new polished menu tells it all:
508 Mb for one episode.
When compared to other former episodes: those used to be around 200Mb.

(I grabbed Flightplan too, just to check, and it already downloaded too. When I started downloading, the new service was freshly released, which might explain the downloading time, still then it went rather fast. -for a 500Mb that is-)

The quality is stunning. I don't have an iPod video, but I am sure it will be plain crisp on those brighter screens.
I do have a 23inch screen and my only interest in seeing Prison Break or any other series, is on that screen.
Quality of former episodes was certainly acceptable on a distance of 4 meter, but the H264 is from a different scaling: it is beautiful.
One can best compare it to the DiVx format.
There is barely no pixilation when sitting on 12 cm from the screen...

Which comes to the next point: 500Mb download for 1 episode is A LOT.
I think of my HD storage, and my bandwidth.
The US might be more advanced than Belgium on this matter, but I might end up paying a lot for these movies: that's an added 0,5 euro for the space on my HD (taking into consideration: 1Gb=1euro) plus the extra bandwidth it might use (only when I pass my limit of 15Gb/month)

One can back up on DVD, but still...
I already referred to Videoshops that offer similar movies for the same price, in real DVD quality.
If you want you can rent your movie over there for only 3 euro.

As for those Belgians interested: run to the nearest Office Centre, they now offer a 250Gb Lacie Porsche drive for 79 euro (without VAT)
That's less than 0.32 euro/GB...

Elections

E6771D61E3Election fever is running: every city, every village is filled with strange portraits hanging around. The one funnier than the other.

The contestants want to be original. But how original can one be?

The internet is being spammed with little movies.
In Ghent, you have the already famous little movies appearing on the regional blogs (and it has to be said, it is the first action probably without investing too much money resulting in a huge response)
(Another cool video which made me smile here)

Few years ago there were some people appearing almost naked, and I guess the best promotion ever was done by 'Morgen Maandag' when featuring Freya and her opponent Bart Somers. After their weekly appearance they were promptly elected and Freya is now certainly known in Belgium (if it isn't for her looks, it certainly is for what she says -or shouldn't say-..)

The elections, one big bargain: what do you get, when do you get most?
Frankly speaking, I have no clue what/who I will be voting for.

Few months ago I went to an interesting lecture at Vooruit.
One of the things announced was the direction Vooruit is going, and it certainly is interactive (Their current exhibition proves it)
Today I found this request in my feedreader (Vooruit has a feed)

(mailen naar eddy@vooruit.be)
Wij plaatsen jouw nummer op de website van Vooruit en bieden je eeuwige roem binnen handbereik!

Pretty interested for the results.
Virtual life combined with real life.
The right track I'd say.

(Quickly translated: If you think you can make a good cover of the pixies, Vooruit invites you to put it on MySpace/YouTube or whatever and mail them the link. Good songs will be featured on their site. Eternal fame, that is!)

Rules of blogging

Sometimes people ask me for the 'rules of blogging'.
Heck, I don't know any rules except for the one 'never delete a post'.*
Blogging is all about common sense I think.

I googled 'Rules of blogging' and I found some interesting tips to take into consideration:

* blog about events, news, music, food, projects, thoughts, ideas, technology, etc., involving or of interest to yourself
* don’t blog about blogging (with exceptions) (this is one!), your current emotional state, your job/coworkers, or your love life
* don’t feel obligated to blog when you have nothing to say
* try to include photos and other images with posts
* keep posts short with 3 to 4 sentences per paragraph separated by full line breaks

generally accepted tenets of blogging

* post regularly
* title each post
* link to things on the web
* provide each post with its own url (permalink)
* allow full access to archived posts
* allow comments
* identify updated content with an appropriate label (such as 'update' or 'correction')
* provide a feed (rss, atom, etc)

some proposed ethical standards for blogging

* respond to comments
* don’t blog about blogging
* don’t quote content without citing a url
* don’t post to communicate indirectly with another person
* don’t obfuscate a post with overly abstract language
* respect the privacy of other people you blog about
* don’t assume everyone irl has already read your latest post
* don’t advertise a new blog–let it be discovered

Also take care of:

*your author biography
*your picture
*your posting titles
*your links
*your navigation
*your publishing frequency
*your topics
*your style (remember you might be writing for your future boss)
*your domain name (make sure you have your own, heck I know why!!)

Found at useit and justinsomnia
Read also '5 rules to make a better blog' which, in fact, contain at least 25 tips to make a better blog.

*Deleting a post is quite useless, it has been cached almost every-time... You probably get more attention by deleting the post (which probably wasn't the reason why you deleted it)

Which blog system to use

Sometimes people/companies ask me which blog-system to use.
Blogger and sponsored platforms are not very useful in those cases.

Scripting your own platform isn't an option either: it is like re-invention hot water with a bowl and a fire, while these days there are already thermostatic tabs... (Or you have a very wealthy client..)

All existing systems were during the years optimized for google and other search-engines. They learned the good things and the bad, they changed and got better.

There are 2 main competitors I advice: Wordpress and SixApart. ExpressionEngine is the third which is certainly for the more needy client, allowing adaptation of all sorts. (Extremely useful tool , but too advanced for most users).

Wireless streaming of video over the network

I am wondering:
Apple announced iTV, and Windows their new Zune.
If I understood well, both claim they will have video streaming over the network. The wifi 802.11g protocol.

It can not be at 54Mbps.
No way.

I have 54Mbps and no way I am streaming video from my shared library to another computer.
A clip of 5Mb works, but a series or a movie of 500Mb: hellish.

So I wonder:
Apple claims their tool will be capable of streaming video over the wireless network.
Or they found a new way/encodation to have a better bits and bytes transfer over the 54Mbps connection.
Or they'll introduce faster Airport Bases.
(And their 300 dollar iTV will need this new Base Station for wireless video streaming making it a 500 dollar media solution..)

And what about this Zune?
Movies wireless??
Anyone an answer?

The challenge of the i.

Challenge-2
Through Clo, LVB and I got some tickets for "The challenge of the I.'' a series of lectures on interactive marketing.

Joseph Jaffe (Jaffejuice.com) was one of the speakers.
Not a bad presentation but not really adding something new.
Summarized I would say he kind of said the things Nokia is doing with their bloggers campaign.
(Nokia already announced they continue doing it, seeing the good results of it, thus proving that this interactive marketing does work)

There were other speakers, with examples, proving that Belgium is still light years behind the market. A position that is not always that bad: we can learn from what the others did, and hopefully not implement the failures.

The remarkable fact was that bloggers are mentioned in almost every presentation while only a year ago, people would have asked 'bloggers?'
Now they are the big evolving market, one of the buzz words in marketing.

Good for us, I'd say.
The question is: are there enough 'influential' bloggers in Belgium?
To take Jaffe's words: take quality above quantity.
And then the answer is simple: the amount really doesn't count.

I am really interested in hearing the results behind the Ogilvy job ad some bloggers placed a month ago. Did it bring in candidates? How many came through the bloggers ad, and how many through conventional ways?
And what about the Word of Mouth, produced by people reading the blogs?

I am also interested in new numbers...
BVLG and Forret produced list with 'most famous' and 'most worth', but the lists are outdated.
How many blogs are there now, and how many of them influential?
And what is their ranking?
Some one?

Public transport

This morning, I had to take the train at 8 -which is really really early for me, I know I am spoiled-
I decided to take the public transport rather than the motorcycle to the trainstation.

I like the train. It allows me to work, and still be on the road. Somehow I am pretty productive on the train, always.

The bus on the other hand... Due to the traffic in the city and some road blocks I missed *2* trains, thus arriving late in the lecture I had to attend.
It wasn't such a big deal. I mean, the world always keeps on turning.

But it makes the commercial on public transport somehow silly.
I certainly would have been faster taking the bike...

Moo: Business cards from flickr

Moo is an online printing service that now lets you turn your Flickr photos into small business cards. After logging in to your Flickr account, there's a nice drag, drop and crop interface. The end result are thick, glossy cards that are long and narrow and about half the size of regular cards. The company will send you 100 of them for $20 and Flickr Pro users get 10 extra cards for free.

I am ordering some for the next mingling event...

sIFR

Logo Sifr2
You also dislike the way IE and PC shows non smoothed fonts?

Or you just want to implement your own font, even if your users don't have it?
Then try sIFR...

Not that easy to implement, but certainly worth the hassle...

sIFR is meant to replace short passages of plain browser text with text rendered in your typeface of choice, regardless of whether or not your users have that font installed on their systems. It accomplishes this by using a combination of javascript, CSS, and Flash.

Check it out!

How do the blind eat?

Yesterday thanks to Zabine, I went to a dinner in the Vooruit.
'Blindelings' was a dinner where you eat in complete darkness. Your guided by the blind waiters/waitresses who bring you dinner and wine.
It is an amazing experience, and inbetween the dinners you get the chance to talk with your guide, or listen to a concert.

I have to say I was extremely tired, and drunk already too much wine before dinner. So after 2 hours it certainly was enough (it is actually very tiring to concentrate and eat dinner without seeing anything)
Especially the concerts lasted too long for me.

But it was fabulous to do, and interesting to talk without borders (remember you don't see anybody), ask rthe questions you always wanted to ask a blind person but never dared to do so.
All of us where curious to see how things would look if the lights went on. I am pretty sure people just didn't bother and in the difficulties of eating, it must have been a nice view...

And I am sure some sneaky stuff happened over there... (When being in these circumstance, I am convinced touching gets a whole different meaning...)

The show is fully booked. But when we arrived, it appeared some of the tables were booked by companies, and a lot of those people didn't show up...
So if you are interested: don't hesitate to go over and try to get in anyway.

Nokia N80, N90, N91, N92, N93 Sync tool for Apple Users

The N93 isn't included in the iSync package yet (Apple takes some time to upgrade their iSync tool, so the last mobiles are never included)

Luckily some enthusiast make plugins for those mobiles.

The iSync-plugin for the NSeries of Nokia can be found here.
Works like a charm.
(One needs to understand a bit of German to understand the instructions: which says: Quit iSync, drop the plugin marked in red into the shortcut folder, restart iSync, initiate your bluetooth connection and sync your device.)

(No thanks! ;))

The nice thing is that these documentaries are being sold on the iTunes Store, featuring some really interesting stories (like gay life in Cuba for example)
Available in hig res these days, so really worth the 1,99 dollars.

Contradiction

Rentemarkt 3Maand

KBC and Fortis announced last week a rise on the interest for mortgages.
According to me this is an artificial rise.
When we look at the last 3 month results of the long term loans, the interest is dropping low.
So why do they want to rise it?
More over: in the bank actually you still receive the same percentages as a week ago (before the announcement).
Are they trying to fool us?

(FYI, I get a 4.06% on 25 years today, compared to the 4.22% 2 weeks ago, and the 4.43% 1.5 month ago.
Compared to these people I am not doing bad...)

BarCamp Brussels, my presentation

2 days ago I decided to tak part in the second Belgian BarCamp.
BarCamp is an unconference: everybody takes part, and everybody does something.
The amount of geeks is large and the speakers very often go into amazing but very technical things.

I decided to do a small presenation on taking better pictures.
Thinking: everybody bought that splendid new camera, and everyody is leanring how to work with photoshop, and aperture and stuff, but sometimes it ain't bad to reming them of the basic principles, and those are 'watching'

So here is my little presentation, in pdf and in a movie.
Enjoy.

Marketing stunts: webcast previews

Openstudio Invite 2006
Just received this in my mailbox (see above)

On the geeky engadgets, gizmodo's and other sites, we try to grasp the new products being released.
Is there finally the perfect phone, will the iPhone be like this or that, will Mac finally come up with the perfect iPod?
Rumor sites, but their popularity is the perfect proof we want to know.

Nokia (hey, they again..) will webcast their new technologies live. To a wider audience. Like an Apple Keynote but only on the web.
Perfect marketing stunt I'd say (knowing how many people follow the Keynote of Apple, I am sure there is still a large audience for Nokia left)

The best thing: you can see all of it out of your lazy chair. :)

Will I be watching?
Maybe.
To see whether they finally release the perfect phone aka organizer aka wifi/voip communicator aka ipod aka ... ;)

Update: what NOT to do: provide a url, and have no 'stop page' there. It gives a mistake for the last 2 hours. I just want to see what I missed guys... Bad marketing that is.

I studied at the University College of Ghent

In the past when filling in papers it was hard to fill in the translation of 'Hogeschool'. High School has a different meaning abroad. I just filled in I studied at the Academy.
In June our school finally decided the translated name. We are now officially 'University College Ghent'

So that makes me a Master in Art, option Photography, graduated at the University College Ghent, at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts.
With an extra post-graduation diploma of Advanced Studies in Art at the Bezalel Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Israel, Jerusalem.

(Pfew, breathe first..)

Would suit well on a business card: 'Master in Art'
LOL!

Balancing Point

A short film from Sensei Studios that is played entirely in reverse and involves the “reverse destruction? of balanced rock sculptures. The movie is intended to be a manipulation of gravity and time though the simple effect of reversing the film. And although the film is played in reverse it appears that the man who is doing his magic is going forwards in time. This short film truly is eye candy for the soul. The Bank, episode 2466

Just came back from the bank, and my suspicion is right...
4.02 fixed, on 25 years. That's the percentage I get today.

Rising mortgages, banks annoucning rising percentages??
They are going down ladies and gentlemen...
(Actually on 20 years they dropped a whole lot.)
Don't let the banks fool you!

Discuss, discuss, and discuss again.

Apple Store

I ordered a computer bag last night, and a TV Tuner.
It would be delivered in the coming 4 days.

This morning I went to pick up the post.
And suddenly I noticed the huge box, addressed to me.

Man, they are quick!
(She said, lying on her deck, while scanning for TV channels. With big smile.)

I had a sneaky preview of the new Skynet Blog Templates, and damn they are sexy!

(I remember saying to Clo that something had to be done about those templates, well, ain't she fast...)(And Clo, nope, I am not going to tell you how I got to see those previews ;) )

My bag climbed the Mount Everest, not me....

Evrstgroup1-Banner571Details

Bags Made from Pieces of Adventure:

Read about these amazing laptop bags and Blackberry cases from Everquest Design (unrelated to the game of the same name). The bags are partially made out of materials from the relics of adventure history.

Your bag can feature a piece of the parachute of a Soyuz mission, or a piece of a sail from an America’s Cup boat.

This has instant appeal for me because it’s limited edition, has a great story, and the bags look pretty cool.

Memories to the garbage bin

My mom has been nagging (actually her boyfriend...) for the last 3 weeks: I had to clean up the attic...

I stored my life onto their attic when leaving for Israel, and they decided I had to remove it (which mean throwing away, taking into account the size of my new apartment..)

I glimpsed in old papers, found courses from high school, old toys, souvenirs and letters, loads of love letters... I threw the first and kept the latter.
I found out I was a lousy photographer 10 years ago (and probably in 10 years I'll find out the same ;) )
I smiled when reading old letters, and remembered loads of forgotten memories, forgotten loves.
Decided which ones to have for the last time, and which one to keep, for a next clean up.

I threw stuff, loads, empty boxes, filled boxes.
I threw a past.

When I moved to the new apartment, we drove 3 times a filled Clio.
Yesterday I cleaned up, and removed another Clio.
What's left: one more Clio.

My life today fits in 4 Clio's...
My memories in one head.

Hang that bike

Bike 01 266Px

Designer Andrew Lang has come out with an innovative new bicycle storage device, called the Cycloc, which allows you to hang and lock your bike to a wall. Not only does it free up your hallway space (who wants to try to trip through a bunch of bikes in the middle of the night), but its also extremely secure and stylish to boot.

7 sins

I was asked to make a little movie with the n93, to test run it.
On one of the 7 sins (I am not a movie maker, thus 7even was not an option ;) )

Here it is (in Dutch...):

Or watch it and rate it a YouTube.

I am passing the stick to Polskaya who clearly has been studying movies recently ;)
