Ecologic living

More and more articles in the newspaper state 'We are aware of ecological disaster' or 'People afraid for the future'. But few articles point out what we can do to make a better living, and to help perceive a better world for tomorrow.

I am worried too. Really.
I won't become a 'green activist'.
In a way I am busy with energy: one of the reasons why I decided to live with roommates is because of energy: when living together you waste less energy. (and that returns in an economical return, which is really nice). I don't have a car. (I am sure if I would have one, I would use it way too often.) We have green electricity, and the house is filled with 'saving lamps'.

But there are some other things, one can do.
Things we might not even think of.
I did a small research online and found these things:

Ones we all know:
-Put the heating a few degrees lower.
-Close the curtains instead.
-Take a shower instead of a bath.
-Take the bicycle once more often
-Eat along with the seasons.
-Take your own bag to the shopping mall instead of taking another plastic bag.

Ones that probably slipped our mind:
-Buy quality products (this results in buying less clothes and thus less production)
-Don't buy flowers, they request a lot of energy in the greenhouses...
-Don't buy food that needs to be transferred by plane. Like bananas.

-Travel together.

The nice thing is, that while integrating these little things, you don't give in any comfort.
Even better: buying better quality clothes or 'bio products' will upgrade your life, and this while saving the environment!

Also keep an eye on the web2.0 35km diet, online in a couple of months: consume only stuff that has been produced in a radius of 35km of your home.
