No TV
In my former apartment I had a tiny television with an old antenna, which enabled me to see Canvas and VRT One, both with a lot of snow.
And a DVD-player. But no DVD's.
And I watched TV, I opened one of the two channels to have some noise in the apartment, and thus I watched.
When I moved to the new apartment, my roommate and I both said we were not interested in cable. And our third roommate decided she needed it either.
The antenna was left in the old house and for a month there was no signal out of the air. Only DVD. With some shared DVD's to watch.
I bought a digital antenna to put on the computer, enabling to have DTT TV, and it works perfect. It's on the computer and only in my room.
Yet, I don't watch. And the living room is still cleared from signals out of the air..
By now I am used to some good music in the living room, and the silence of the TV.
And, really, I love it.
I take a book, or a magazine, or just lie in my chair watching the air outside*.
I wonder if it was like that before the existence of TV.
(*Or grab my computer and play around the web)

You're absolutely right. When at uni, didn't miss television for one second, yet I never felt more informed. Internet is so much better (if you know how to use it).
