Flanders invoked independence.
Haha, best joke ever. I wonder how well they prepared it and if it was the purpose of making such a hype out of it. Best marketing action ever :)
Well well well. Who ever thought this could be happening.
RTBF is on the map again... And now we can start wondering who'll be the one being kicked out. Journalists, directors or politicians.
Update: Actually I don't have a problem with this action. As promethée says: the Walloons would be faced with the fact their economy and their Marshall plan isn't working too well.
It is indeed a good exercise for the mind for what could happen.
When we look to the broader circle: nor BBC or CNN are making any reports on the frontpage of their websites. SO ladies and gentlemen: this news ain't news ;)
Update: Watch the docu online (in French).
Update 2: We made it into Time magazine.
I was having lunch with some people in politics, and they said 'Belgium is in a bad light due to this. We are doing all this trouble to get investors in Belgium and now this story..'
Of course they have a point...

To be honest, the very first minute, I was on the verge to open a bottle of champaign! Not at all because I hate my country but just because at last, the carnival would have come in my city streets...
Posted by promethee | December 14, 2006 7:46 AMPS: french-speaking medias and politicians suck this morning! Well, as usual I should rather write! Nobody dare to say we people from Brussels and Wallonia were afraid because it's known we will will probably face very hard times if Flanders cut the rope...
Posted by promethee | December 14, 2006 7:48 AMEuhhh, I'm sorry but Belgium is being split. Every day a little bit more. So this news is kinda true. NVA has big plans to transfer lots of power from national to federal governments. This means that most decision making will be done in the federal governments and not any longer in the national government. So, who can tell me this doesn't mean the end of a political Belgium?
The fact is that Belgian is already split at various levels and this is going on. In the field there are examples proving this. At Salone del Mobile (Milan) there wasn't a Belgian stand, there was a Wallon stand (at the fair itself) and there was a Flemish stand (out in the city) promoting designers. There are numerous examples like this.
It's sad, but it's true. But nobody wants to admit it...
