Kristin Hersh
My most favorite song when 16 was 'Your Ghost' from Kristin Hersh.
I slowed with my first girlfriend endlessly while on repeat.
Kristin Hersh had these fabulous songs, amazing texts. My mom said she whined...
I could leave the CD for hours. Try to unravel the texts into something I thought I understood.
Years later Throwing Muses still fills my Last.FM. I still get moved by Kristin's whining. And I am still trying to understand her flood of words.
I was impressed some years ago by her 'silent fan releases online' allowing fans to download versions of songs. A good way to introduce unique music as an alternative to the starting download scene on the internet .
Kristin didn't disappear... She merely was out of our eyes.
And recently she's back:
Today Kristin has a blog, YouTube has a series of her songs, and, she even has a videocontest on YouTube: Learn to sing like a star videocontest
Moreover, she's coming to Gent, to the Handelsbeurs.
I might end up there :)
*Listen to some new songs on MySpace (she's soooo web 2.0 ;) )

what's more: she's hilariously funny. She once during a concert told a story about 'Cynthia the Exterminatrix', an enormous woman who once came spraying her house for bugs :)
