Saab
Can anyone explain me why second hand Saab cars sell pretty cheap?
Is there a hidden secret?
If anyone sees the one above for sale, feel free to mail me where you saw it.
One day I'll hope to buy such a car. :)

I remember I've got that exact same model (in silver though) as a toy car. It must be around somewhere. You can have it for free if you want ;-)
Posted by tijs | March 19, 2007 7:54 PMMy mother always wanted a car like that one too :-)
They aren't curvy enough for my liking though.
Almost nobody wants a Saab because those cars are known to use a lot of fuel, certainly the old ones.

Posted by iphi | March 20, 2007 1:08 AMSaab's sell cheap in second hand because most people buying bigger second hand cars want to show of with a 'big brand' (BMW, Mercedes, Audi) which they can not afford to buy new.
Typical Saab buyers are a strange breed and are usually picky about the car they choose, so they buy a new one to their liking and often use it longer then the traditional "until it's written off period".

Posted by Bert Van Wassenhove | March 20, 2007 9:05 PMActually, Saab sells cheap because you always need to buy two of them at the same time: one is always bound to break down at some point and then you still have the other one, either to drive or for spare parts... :-) Anyway, reliability is not exactly Saab's strong point. And if you don't believe me, check out: http://www.reliabilityindex.co.uk/tophundred.html?apc=3128339010848601 The first mention of Saab in the top 100 reliability index for the UK is on spot 87... Mind you: there are of course other aspects to consider when buying a car. Image and looks are some of them. I remember driving Alfa Romeo once. Same story. And no, I'd never buy an Alfa again. But nevertheless: enjoy your next Saab! And yes: at least they have character.
Posted by Serge Cornelus | March 23, 2007 5:31 PMOops, correction: the Saab 9-5 is at place 20 already. They are improving! But the stories I could tell you about some of my former colleagues insisting on driving a Saab... Of course, that was a long time ago. When Saab still had character instead of reliability. :-) Perhaps I should consider a 9-5 next time...
