Keep You Safe

If all goes well, I'll be traveling to South America within some months.
Now we all know the dangers of traveling: a spare pare of documents would fit us well.
www.keepyousafe.com is a nice system that enables you to upload your documents safely. For free. And whenever something happens, you just surf to the site and collect the stuff over there.
In any case, you need to take a copy of you passport along, coz you never know where and in which conditions you lose your stuff.

Update: Bart pointed it out well in the comments: the easiest thing to do is ail it to your own gmail account. Which would suit the purpose perfectly well.

I wouldn't feel comfortable storing my very personal documents on a website that's specially focused on that. It just screams 'hack me, hack me'.

Box.net or Gmail are perfect tools for storing your documents and provide much more space. Maybe it's less secure than keepyousafe, but at least nobody will know you store your documents there or how to find it.

A friend of mine went to visit his girlfriend in Brasil a couple of years ago. They travelled around the country. In one city (can't remember the name) they were threatened by two robbers, and my friend had to give them his wallet (gun to the head, etc). Fortunately, he was clever enough to have all his important documents and most of the cash in one slightly hidden wallet, and a couple of bucks in a cheaper wallet. The robbers took off with the cheap wallet.

Don't say I didn't tell you. ;)
