Ok, I might sound totally unpopular now, but I don't get Twitter at all.
I mean, what kind of fun is there when someone beeps 'made a mistake in my code, stupid me'
or something alike.
Who cares?
Who cares someone is going to bed or to the toilet or whatever?
Nope I don't get it.
One says I should post, but then I think I wouldn't know what to post.
'Writing a blogpost now'? You'll see on my blog I wrote a blogpost...
'Going for food now'? Who wants to know?
'Sun is shining, good morning!' Hey do I know you stranger?
I am trying to get rid of my internet addictions... Not feeding a new one ;)
So to the Twitters, enjoy it. Me, I am gonna unsubscribe from IM, as really I didn't see anything interesting pop up until now. And frankly speaking, it takes my attention from what I was busy with. (lying in the sun ;P)
Then again, maybe I wasn't to addicted after all :)
(update: I do see advantages like for BarCamp, or other stuff, but not for all the time...)

I agree with you. I fool around with Twitter now and then, but it doesn't make really sense. It's great to launch a buzz among your other techie friends but that's about it.
On top of that, marketing/advertising firms have discovered Twitter too. I recently got a friend-request from Emma (tv één) who's probably gonna talk some crap about her tv serie, so I rejected.
Some people auto feed Twitter with news, organisations (Meeting Of Minds) feed Twitter with follow-ups on their events.
Personally I don't like these auto feeds. I don't care who starts speaking at an event if I'm not attending it. I neither want news items to be in my Twitter. I've got a feed reader for that!
Summarized: People/organisations are still figuring out what Twitter can be usefull for.
