Cuba -last minute...

Things to know:
1.You need a hotel booked before arrival. Otherwise they book it for you and then it ain't the cheapest.
-> Problem: I don't have a hotel booked... I don't have anything... I will make the guess and try to get a hotel room over there... Can't be that difficult I guess.

2.Local money.
They have 2 currencies CUC (which is an equivalent to the USD)
and CUP, which is a different thing and much cheaper.
Tourists get CUC, while the others get CUP.
Cuba is expensive for tourists. Unless you manage to live (look) like a Cuban...
Money out of the wall is something rather rare.

3. To leave the country you need to pay 25 USD. Interesting to know (I had the same experience in Cancun, Mexico, and a backpacker as I am, I didn't have the 25 USD anymore. I don't remember how I managed finally...)

4.Electricity: 110 volt, and they stop the electricity to save the money. So it is a wise decision to take my manual camera that doesn't need to be charged..

5 Presents: Cuba is poor. Take presents...

Short message for the homefront

Arrived in Havana.

All OK.

Internet f* expensive -3dollar for 30 min-, so are the hotels. Looking for one now, which might become more difficult than expected. They charge for everything here...
One night hotel 56 dollar. Huh!

Habana

Arrived good and well in Habana.
I want to thank all of you for your generous tips on Habana. Especially the Tomys Hostel tip, which turned out a real help for me (in my search for a place to sleep)

Habana is expensive, very expensive, but it is fun compared to the boring weather of some days ago.
While being here only for 3 days, I already feel like being here for atleast three weeks.
The funny part is that it seems a lot of Belgians have had the same idea, and even some friends turned to be around here.
Funny but very nice.

Leaving tomorrow for Venales and after that for the long longed for Trinidad.

Not too many posts... since internet is way to expensive and I rather spend that money on mojitoś, mojitos, and more mojitos.
I ll drink one for ya all (nice smile)

Catch you later!

Back and jetlagged

Here we are again, tanned and jet-lagged.
Hope I brought the sun.

Had a TERRIBLE night in the plane with racist Antwerp people in front of me, and a couple of screaming Cuban kids behind me. You get the picture...

But you should see the smile on my face :)

Travel review on the Flemish blog -click on Dutch in the menu above- (I owe it to Wereldreiziger) soon.
Sending in the pics to the lab and will publish them on my Flickrrrrr-account. -soon...-

Salsa

I missed Dolly but took salsa classes instead with Alfonso, our sexy Cuban choreographer.
3 lessons later I am not yet convinced about my salsa capacities...
But dancing will be done at Lady Janes next performance. And I'll try it salsa-wise. ;))
